Construction Management Office Tower Bau 1, Basel

The tallest skyscraper in Switzerland

With a gross floor area of approx. 83,000 m², the high-rise offers space for approx. 2,000 employees of the company F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG. The building project in the Swiss city of Basel serves the goal of bringing the employees, who are currently scattered throughout the city in different offices, spatially closer together. With a total height of 178 m, the building bridges the gap between function and technology and makes a striking visual statement on the banks of the Rhine.

Designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, the stair-shaped tower offers accessible terraces and multi-storey open meeting areas on every second floor. A limited amount of glass and effective sun protection in the multi-layered façade ensure high energy efficiency. The same applies to the use of waste heat for heating and ground water for cooling. Modularisation and 3D modelling stand for innovative planning.
