Construction Supervision Europagalerie Shopping Center, Saarbrücken. Construction Time: 2008 – 2010

Reconstruction and integration of a landmarked office building

The former administration building of Saarbergwerke, formerly the “royal prussian mining headquarters” was built in 1877 to 1880 according to plans by the Berlin architect Martin Gropius. During the construction of a modern shopping mall, the unique structure was connected as a separate building to the existing Saargalerie. As a result, a covered and well-lit piazza is created. This was done to meet strict conditions of preservation. The shopping center is now home to around 110 shops on four floors and an area of approximately 25,000 m².
